What do you feel called to? Have you been living out that calling?
This morning I had the joy of talking about callings and gifts with a dear friend during yoga. God is so good at revealing what we're called to, sometimes we aren't as good at listening. Every once in a while, the people around us might speak into our calling. It might be out of support or it could be to sway us from following through.
I often pray while I weed my garden. There is something very meditative about repeating the same movements over and over. Plus, being out in nature immediately connects me with God's creation. On this specific day, I came to my cucumber plants and took a closer look. I planted the wrong seeds. At the beginning of the season, I intentionally planned to only plant 3 slicing cucumber plants. I didn't want an overabundance of cucumbers and as I took a closer looks at the very abundant plant, I realized I had accidentally planted pickling cucumbers. This means, I'll now have to pick about 2000 cucumbers versus the 50 or so slicing cucumbers I had planned. To put it mildly, I was annoyed. And as I continued to weed and pray I heard that all to familiar whisper..."I've known."
Jeremiah 1:5 says "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet of nations." This goes for everyone. He knew you before you were born and He set you apart. He's given you a calling. He's given you gifts. That's not reserved for the person that's sitting next to you. It's already yours.
So, again I'll ask you, what do you feel called to? Have you been living out that calling? If you're struggling with figuring out your calling or maybe you know where you've been called and are struggling in it, take some time to rest with the ONE that truly knows you.
